permissions message in qb 2021 desktop "does not have an associated entitlement."

Got the message below for the first time today about six bank accounts after backing up. Happily five have been inactive and closed for over 10 years but I'm worried about the current account. However, I reopened and backed up with no hiccup so maybe there's no continuing problem.

Here's the exact message:

Permissions: 'Bank Registers: [account name]' does not have an associated entitlement.

What should I do?  Thanks in advance.

I appreciate the details you provided, RetiredCPA. I'd like to extend a helping hand in fixing the bank account register in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

One possible reason for this error could be a damaged component in the company file, which is preventing you from accessing the register page. To resolve this issue, we can run the Tool Hub and use the Company File utility to fix the problem.

  1. Download the latest Tool Hub version here: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub
  2. Run the installer and follow the installation process.
  3. After installing, open the Tool Hub.
  4. From the list of utilities, select Company File Issues.
  5. Follow the prompts to start the repair process.

Please also note that the Tool Hub is designed for supported versions of QuickBooks. While it can be run on unsupported versions, it may not effectively identify issues due to a lack of support and updates.

Additionally, one solution we can consider is performing a clean installation of QuickBooks Desktop. A comprehensive guide can be found here: Reinstall QuickBooks Desktop.

Furthermore, I'll share this article to help you with the reconciling process: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

Thanks so much for all this guidance, Genmarie!

I had forgotten (despite having a shortcut on my desktop) about the Tool Hub which I already have, so I especially appreciate the reminder.

Happily both utilities resulted in zero errors so I needn't take any further action now.

After 40+ years I just find QB such an easy way to track my own personal finances that I hope my desktop versions keep working as long as I can keep at it. Thanks to all who support this community!
