Just got email for annual QuickBooks Desktop fee but I’ve been using QB Essentials for years now. Do I need desktop when I’m only using QuickBooks online? I think I’ve been paying for something I’m not using.

Hello there, @AnnieMCC.

I can see the urgency of getting your subscription concern resolved. Let me redirect you to the best support who can check your billing details and provide the information you need about your QuickBooks account.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) are two different platforms. Both are accounting software, so you'll only need to use any of them. With this, there's a need to check your billing and QuickBooks subscription to verify about your QBDT annual fee.

Since the Community is a public forum, and we'll need to collect some personal information to pull up your account, I'd recommend contacting our Desktop Support team. They can securely pull up your account and create a case to investigate your billing concern.

Once everything is all set, you may want to check out one of our Help pages as your reference to guide you in managing your business growth and transactions using QuickBooks Online (QBO): QuickBooks Learn and Support. It includes help articles, Community discussions with other users, and video tutorials, to name a few.

Let me know if you have other account management concerns using QuickBooks. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @AnnieMCC.
