QB 2000 Moving from Old to New

I purchased a new laptop and have successfully installed (from disk) Quickbooks 2000. I am trying to move 2 company files from old to new laptop. I have tried "utilities" "move QB to another computer". Everything copies to my USB. When I open the USB on new computer and click on "Move_QuickBooks.exe" nothing happens. I tried to backup the files and tried restore. It states the file is corrupt or not a correct file type. Same with just moving the .qbw files and trying to open. Any suggestions?

It's great news to have a new laptop for convenient use, Di Cuming. However, using an old version of QuickBooks on a new laptop can cause compatibility issues. Let me explain further.

QuickBooks 2000 is now unsupported. Older versions like this are not tested with recent or new operating systems (OS) of laptops/computers, which is why they have compatibility issues.

We have plenty of troubleshooting steps; however, there's no guarantee that they will work since this version is unsupported. You can use the QuickBooks Tool Hub, which provides tools that can help you fix common QuickBooks Desktop issues.

Here's how:

Download the most recent version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
Open the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). You can look it up in your Downloads folder.
Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
Once opened, look for Quick Fix my file or the QuickBooks File Doctor.
Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

Open the sample file on your old PC and create a backup file. Can you restore it on your new PC?
