QB Desktop 2023 Windows 11 Crashing

I recently purchased a new laptop and moved QB Desktop there and because it was time to upgrade to 2023 from 2022, I did that as well. In those 3 weeks EVERY time I attempt to process payroll, QB crashes. I have a work around temporarily, but I am growing increasingly frustrated. I have worked with QB support, all the way up to the Data team and no issues could be found so they directed me to Dell Software support. After paying them and then working with their rep, no issues was found with the new laptop on either the hardware or software side. I then decided to move QB back to my old laptop but of course that meant updating the program there to 2023 from 2022, but I hoped that it would work. It did not as the same error is occurring. I have tried the tool hub and every other step imaginable. I did notice that this was a huge issue with 2022, but fortunately one that I did not encounter; however, after reading the thread on it, it has made me wonder if this is a holdover issue from then. Anyone having issues or have any ideas on how to fix it?

It is literally the bain of my existence and I curse this program every day because it crashes at least once a day.  And QB don't give two sh*ts about fixing it.  They want to rule the world with their UNBEARABLY HORRIBLE, MONEY SUCKING, BUBBLY, NON-ACCOUNTING online crap.  Thanks for listening.

I'm afraid to jinks it, but my crashes stopped. I had the QB 22 and 23 crashing every 20 min, for months.

After I ran the update for FedEx Ship Manager the crashed stopped. For two weeks now - no crashes. Go figure!  They must have some shared libraries that conflicted. If you have this software from FedEx running on your PC - check for updates.

Hello, I feel your frustration.  Wow, I also have FedEx Ship Manager Software but my version is a little different.  It is 37.09 instead of .51 as your photo attached.  I really wonder if that was the case, because on my personal laptop QB Desktop Pro 2023 worked fine and QB Desktop Premier 2021 worked fine, but on my office desktop where I had installed the FedEx Ship Manager Software installed it would crash everyday at 11:00 am and then at 2:30 pm and thereafter every 30 minutes especially when it is idle.  However, I did not run FedEx Ship Manager software and QB at the same time, so when a program is closed, not sure why still QB would freeze and then I would have to end task it to open another one.  Even when the QB Support would be on the phone, they would be surprised that if let idle for more than 30 minutes, QB would freeze and we would not even have any other program be running.

Now I am tempted to uninstall Ship Manager Software and Reinstall QB desktop to see if that fixes the issue for now atleast.

@jburke17Hey,

To fix QuickBooks Desktop 2023 crashing on Windows 11, follow these steps:

  1. Update QuickBooks: Ensure you have the latest QuickBooks Desktop version installed, as newer versions often include bug fixes.
  2. Update Windows: Make sure your Windows 11 is up-to-date with the latest updates and patches from Microsoft.
  3. Check System Requirements: Verify that your computer meets QuickBooks Desktop 2023's system requirements for Windows 11.
  4. Disable Compatibility Mode: Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon, go to Properties, and ensure it's not set to run in compatibility mode.
  5. Run as Administrator: Launch QuickBooks by right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator" to give it elevated privileges.
  6. Disable Add-ons: Temporarily disable any third-party add-ons or plugins that might be causing conflicts.
  7. Repair QuickBooks Installation: Use the QuickBooks installation repair tool to fix any corrupted files.
  8. Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure your graphics card drivers are up-to-date. Outdated drivers can cause crashes.
  9. Check for Conflicting Software: Some software can conflict with QuickBooks. Try disabling or uninstalling recently installed applications to identify the culprit.
  10. Create a New User Account: Sometimes, a corrupt user profile can cause issues. Create a new user account and see if QuickBooks works there.
  11. Use the QB Diagnostic Tool: Intuit provides a QuickBooks Desktop Install Diagnostic Tool that can automatically resolve many installation issues.
  12. Seek Professional Help: If the issue persists, consider contacting QuickBooks support or a professional IT expert for further assistance.

Remember to back up your QuickBooks data before attempting any major fixes to avoid data loss.

We bought 4 new lenovo laptops with windows 11. Trying to install QB 2023 with no luck. Had the hard drive replaced in one of the laptops as well as the motherboard and still didn't work. On telephone with QB support allowing them to enter my computer remotely and after 3 hours the tech asked me to hold on and I waited. After 15 minutes she hung up. Paying for QB  2023 and only able to use it on windows 10!

Oh and tried to install in compatibility mode and that too failed with same error. Again if anyone in this thread has any ideas please help. QB just takes the money!
