Question

QB desktop to QB online : Do memorized transactions transfer?

Looking to migrate from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online and saw that there are no Memorized Transactions in the online version, but there are Recurring Transactions which appear to have similar functionality.

When exporting the company file from the desktop version and importing that file to the online version, do the memorized transactions become recurring transactions or is there a way to ensure this happens?

Attempting to manually recreate all these as recurring transactions would be a nightmare.

It's great having you join us here in the Community, @MM8888.

I understand that manually creating these recurring transactions when migrating your data is time-consuming. I'll give insights to get around this issue so you can move your data.

Importing memorized transactions into QBO isn't possible at this time. You might consider looking for a third-party app importer in QBDT that allows you to create recurring transactions instead of memorized transactions. I'll show you how:

  1. From the left panel, click Apps.
  2. Go to the Find Apps tab.
  3. Use the search bar and enter the keyword to look for an app.
  4. Choose an app from the list.

Alternatively, you can go to this link: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop and select which application best meets your needs from the list.

If you'll want to know more details on how your books are moved, you can read through this article: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

Just to make sure I understand things. When migrating from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online, the native functionality of Memorized Transactions does not translate in any way to Quickbooks Online. The only solution is that Quickbooks has decided to be passive and let third party apps handle the migration? So it's not really an easy move from desktop to online?

We are unable to migrate the list of memorized transactions to QBO. You should consider purchasing a 3rd party .

Yes we are converting from desktop to online, but this is a pretty big part of the business and losing all these transactions would be pointless.
