QB Desktop Upgrade

We plan on upgrading QB Desktop Premier 2021 to QB Desktop Premier 2024 in May.  We run a client/server setup in multi-user mode with 5 users.  Two companies are supported with the larger company file at approximately 700MB.  Hardware/software specs are fine but was wondering if there are any issues with the size of the company file when doing the upgrade?

You can upgrade to QB Desktop 2024 Premier Plus for 5 users. You have to call their sales team to purchase the new license. Another option you can get if thru a partner and you can get $100 cashback.

 

Regarding the file size, consider to condense your file below 250 MB if you still prefer to work on QB Desktop Pro or Premier.

Each business file is limited to 250 MB for QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2024 while for QBDT Enterprise is 1.5 GB. Since the two company files are about 700 MB, you may encounter issues with upgrading your data and have slow performance when using them. For now, I recommend using the Condensed Data Utility tool. This tool will help reduce the overall size of your file while preserving all your data and details. By condensing the data, you can also minimize the risk of data damage.

 

Data File Optimization is accessed just like the traditional condensed file feature. Before doing the process, please note that this option is not reversible, and it's best to reach out to your accountant before following the steps below:

 

  1. Select File, then select Utilities.
  2. Click Condense Data.
  3. Choose Keep all transactions, but remove audit trail info to date.
  4. Pick Next.
  5. Let the process complete. Select Close.
