QB not allowing banking import to current credit card

Hello All,

I've been importing to a credit card from downloaded bank transactions in the past.  All of a sudden when I select the credit card for the import to download, QB wants me to create a new credit card and won't put the download into my current credit card.  When i enter a new bogus credit card the download takes place.  I deleted all the transactions to that card and tried my regular card again.  I asks me to create a new card.  I also can't now get rid of the bogus card from my list of accounts.  It says it has transactions against it, which it doesn't.  Have verified and rebuilt data but still can't get rid of it and can't import into my current credit card.  Solutions?  Please.  Much appreciated. I need to get this done.

Hello @Susan607,

Sorry to hear that you've been having issues. Discussed with the team, and usually this happens when the credit card has changed somehow (replacement card with new number). Even if that is not the case, these steps may help you solve the problem.

For the account you can’t delete:

1.  Open the Chart of Accounts

2.  Select the account row

3.  Select the Edit button

4.  Select Online Settings

5.  Set the Download transactions to ‘Not enabled’

6.  Save

You should now - hopefully - be able to delete the account.

For the account that you can’t download too:

1.  Open the Chart of Accounts

2.  Select the account row

3.  Select the Edit button

4.  Select Online Settings

5.  Set the Download transactions to ‘Not enabled’

6.  Save

7.  Re-connect the card to online banking

You should now be able to download to that account.

Hello, I am having the same problems of bank feeds to wanting to allow me to import web connect file to a connected credit card with an existing account. It keeps giving the message "QB does not have an online account to handle these transactions" and then tries to force me to set up a new account. The regular "last 90 days" transactions download feed works fine, but I need to import transactions earlier than that. I am working on qb desktop 2022 in windows.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community again, BB7301. I'll be sharing details on how the WebConnect file works in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, I'll ensure you can import transactions into QBDT without errors.

Before uploading the WebConnect file from your bank, you have to deactivate Bank Feeds first for the specific account. This is to make sure that it allows you to import a web connect file to a connected credit card.

Here's how:

  1. Click the List tab at the top menu bar.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Right-click the account.
  4. Click Edit Account.
  5. Go to the Bank Feed Settings tab.
  6. Select Deactivate all online services.
  7. Select OK.
  8. Click Save & Close.

Then, keep in mind that you need to delete or match any pending transactions in your Bank Feeds Center if you get an error message upon performing the process. For additional insight into deactivating Bank Feeds, you may visit this article: Deactivate Bank Feeds for an account.

Once done, you can now start importing your transactions using Web Connect.

Lastly, you may refer to this article on how you can reconcile your accounts to avoid discrepancies: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

Keep me posted on how everything goes or if you're referring to something else in the comment section. I'm always around for further assistance. Take care and have a good one, BB7301.
