It's great to see you back in the Community forum, Judy. I recognize the changes to the backup process in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) may be concerning. I'm here to help you disable the backup process and guide you on how to manually back up your company file.
First, let's make sure that both QuickBooks and Intuit Data Protect are updated before proceeding with the steps. If they aren't, you can follow these instructions:
- To update your QuickBooks, go to: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
- To update your Intuit Data Protect, visit: Update Intuit Data Protect.
Once you've checked or updated your program, we can proceed with the process. Please follow the steps below to disable it.
- Find the Intuit Data Protect (IDP) icon (green padlock) in the Windows System Tray (typically located at the bottom right of the screen).
- Right-click the IDP icon, then select About Intuit Data Protect.
- The About Intuit Data Protect window opens. Press CTRL+F2 simultaneously to open the IDP Diagnostic tool.
- Click Log out.
