qbmapi64 out of memory error on windows 10

Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020 install on updated Windows 10.

I've added Customers and invoices. Want to email invoices, so attempted to set up email.

Go To,   "Edit", "Preferences" and select "Send Forms"

I Get a "qbmapi64" error box with "out of memory" message,   with only a selection of "OK".

I then get the Quickbooks - Unrecoverable  window to send a report to QB.

Then it shuts down QB completely.

I've run QB tool hub against the program, to no avail.

I've run Regedit and changed my

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SubSystems

changed my Windows\SharedSection   value from 1024,20480,768  to  1024,[removed].

Please, if you have run into this, let me know if you have found a solution.

Were you able to get this resolved?  I would like to know what steps you took to get it fixed.  I am running into a similar issue.

Hello, @3treebkg.

There are some possible reasons why you are encountering this issue when setting up your email address in QuickBooks Desktop.

First, there might be updates with your Windows Operating System. Since QuickBooks depends on your Windows OS, it affects the behavior of the QuickBooks software. That is why we need to check if there is an update so that you can run your QuickBooks Desktop smoothly.

Second, you also need to update your QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release. Updating to a new release usually involves minor changes. It doesn't require you to update your company file(s).

You can follow the articles below to have more information about the unrecoverable error in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please leave a comment below if you have any other questions. Take care!

I also have this problem.  Not able to email paystubs because it never gets that far.

I have a new computer and  ditto to all the below.

can't possibly be out of space.

April 29, 2020

Space isn't the problem. There is a bug somewhere. I have confirmation that it affects QBD Premier 2020, QBD Enterprise 2019 & QBD Enterprise 2020.

BTW: In the category of desperate times call for desperate measures, you may want to purchase a print to email product. Fineprint, CutePDF, NovaPDF & Blackice come to mind. I suspect there are others.

We are running on a Windows Server 2016 box.  We resolved this issue by uninstalling the current version of QBD and went back to an R3 install (happen to have downloaded the installer for R3 and found in download file).  Life is good again.  Until they fix the current version we will run on R3.  I would love to get a reach out from support when it is fixed.  I was told yesterday, after hours of phone time, we would be on an email update for the issue.  We have not received one.

Thanks for bringing this one to our attention, bdesilva.

I appreciate you for coming up with a workaround by uninstalling the current version of QuickBooks and went back to an R3 version. The unrecoverable error when sending an email in QuickBooks is still an ongoing issue.

Our engineers are still investigating to identify the root cause of this issue, so they can apply a permanent resolution. For now, we don't have a specific time frame for when is this going to be mitigated. Rest assured, this is being taken care of.

Since you contacted our Technical Support Team, they already added you to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be notified through an email notification once there's an update on this issue.

Another workaround is to save the form/report a PDF and email them outside your software.

I've got a link here where you can find articles about managing your sales and customer's transactions: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/sales-and-customers/07?product=QuickBooks%20Desktop.

I'm just one click away if you need a hand with running reports or any QuickBooks related. Wishing you and your business continued success. Take care always.

Over a month and NO update, NO email.

May 8, 2020

UPDATE:

3 hours of QB Phone support;

Reinstalled QB - Didn't work.

Reinstalled QB, Made sure it was completely updated, also made sure Windows10 was completely updated - Didn't work.

QB Tool hub repair App, ran everything known to man in the App - Didn't work.

Tried rebuild of company file - Didn't work.

CLOSED the call with QB support saying that I'd have to wait for Microsoft to fix the problem and keep checking for MS updates. THAT was 3 weeks ago. Still no resolution after checking for both QB and MS updates EVERY DAY !!!

Seems like emailing an Invoice is one of the more VALUABLE functions of QB.

I would think that fixing this problem would be at the TOP of the list.

I'm not sure if QB Support has me on the list of people to send updates of the fix status, but I'd sure like to know how I can be informed of any Fixes for this issue.

April 2, 2022

Today is April 2nd, 2022 and the EXACT same issue is STILL happening! Support want s hundreds of dollars to "fix" their issue. This is getting to be insane! Over 2 years and the problem still exists!

October 1, 2020

I am having exactly the identical problem qbmapi64 out of memory

October 1, 2020

Hello there, MJPR2018.

I've checked our system and the investigation is already resolved. The error is caused by an older release of Microsoft Office. We recommend you update to the latest release to resolve this issue. If you have windows, you can open an MS Word document and click File from the menu. Click Account or Help and you'll see the Office version, then select Update

After updating Office, open your QuickBooks Desktop Company update it to its latest release. Then, try sending an invoice again.

If you still get the same error, you can follow the steps provided by my colleague on how to contact us. This way, we can open a new investigation.

Keep me posted on how this works. I'll be around the corner to assist you. Take care!

April 2, 2022

Updating microsoft office is NOT the solution. I don't use it, don't have it installed and I'm STILL having the exact same problem! April 2nd, 2022!!!

Just started happening to me.  Unable to send emails out of QB Non-Profit 2019.  Get the out of memory error and then shuts down.

Thanks for joining this thread, @snn.

Sending emails to your clients in your QB Non-Profit 2019 is my superiority. There are countless possible reasons why you are encountering this issue.

  • There may be updates with your Windows Operating System- I'd recommend updating it.
  • Need to update your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to its latest release

I just ran into this error a few weeks ago and wasted 3 hours on phone with "tech support"

Finally I decided to just reload Microsoft Office since that is the closest relation to what is failing.

After that, it worked.  Of course after every subsequent Windows update, it breaks again.  I reload Office and it starts to work again.

Some have said they don't use Office, but it is worth a try.

SOLVED

When you have the qbmapi64 error dont click OK

just open task manager, look for qbmapi64, click properties and checkmark the box "Run as administrator"

Make sure to click Apply and save.

it worked for me

January 25, 2023

Thank you. We were also able to fix this issue this way. We had to close out of Quickbooks to try this again after changing the "Run as Administrator" box.

We would restate the steps as

1. Try to email the invoice. Once you get the error message -

2. Open Task Manager (click on the Windows Start Menu and type Task to find it).

3. Details tab. Look for qbmapi64. Left click to select it. Right click and select Properties.

4. In Properties click on the Compatibility tab. Check the "Run as Administrator" box. Apply. OK.

5. Close out of the QB error and dialog boxes and out of QB itself.

6. Open QB again and email the invoice.

March 2, 2023

This worked for sending emails, but not for making changes to the preferences to send emails.  WHY does QB make it so difficult to use their software?

December 1, 2024

Can you tell me if this was ever solved? I am still having this same issue and it's been 4 years.

I am using all the latest versions, already debugged, verified and rebuilt data. Only happens when I send an invoice. Support has not been helpful.
