QBO says PO Box is not in Compliance.

We have used a PO Box since our business began over 15 years ago.  We E-file all of our Payroll and Year-End Reports with that PO Box as our mailing address, which is allowed.  QBO insists on having your physical address if you are to have Direct Deposit for your employees, which is fine.  BUT for the 4th Quarter Reports and for all of the 2020 Year-End Reports (W-2s, Contractors, etc) which we E-filed, QBO took it upon themselves to use our  Physical Address instead of our PO Box.

We never changed anything as it has been setup that way in QBO for over 10 years.  However, the Filing Address is now our physical address and QBO says we must leave it that way or we are not in compliance with them.  If we are not in compliance with QBO, they block you from running payroll, E-paying and E-filing.  Thus you MUST now have a physical address which goes on all of your forms.  Although I need to check, I may need to Amend all forms due to the incorrect business address QBO inserted.

Our business is such that the employees go directly to the storage unit that holds our supplies and from there to whatever job they are on that day.  Our office is not located at the storage unit, but instead we work from our home office.  We did not want our employees or the contractors knowing where we live, but now that QBO gave everyone our physical address, they do.  I have spoken with QBO regarding this and they say there is nothing they can do as this is a decision that goes for everyone.

We don't mind having our physical address listed for Direct Deposits as that is understandable for QBO to have that, but why must they insist upon using our physical address for filing our Quarterly and Year-End Reports, especially when that is not how we are listed with any of the agencies?

Does anyone have any idea what to do about this?  Is anyone having this same problem with not wanting a physical address showing on your W-2s and 1099 NECs?

Hello there, priscilla1.

Your filing address should match the IRS records to avoid your tax forms from being rejected, and not receiving any important notices from the IRS. For now, you still need to enter a physical location in the Mailing or Company Address in QBO.

Keep me posted if there's anything else that you need help with. Take care!

The address was always correct and matched what the IRS and other agencies had.  UNTIL QBO decided to change our filing address from our PO Box to the Street Address.

The problem falls to QBO, not to us.  We did everything correctly  QBO changed our information without advising us just so it could match what they are now calling "compliance" for QBO.  NOT compliance for any government agency, but for themselves only.

I had the same problem and it is very frustrating. It is one of the main reasons I'm switching off QBO payroll.

I am now having the same issue with inputting employee's addresses from their W-4's. This is a totally ludicrous requirement. We live in Alaska and many people in the villages do not have a physical address that is registered with the USPS beyond a PO box. Some are lucky if they have that. I seriously hate how QBO generates "compliance issues" for itself alone and makes its users jump through arbitrary hoops. I wish my clients would stop using QBO for their payroll needs.

I am really sorry to hear you are going through that.  I know it is rough!

Ditto here. There are places all over the country, like our mountain resort town, that do NOT have street delivery of mail. Our PO Box IS the address on our Tax Filings. QBO is forcing workarounds like Box ### (dropping the PO) or adding the street address (that we use for UPS and Fedex) in front of the PO Box and hoping for the best. Please reconsider trying to make us all fit in the same box (pun intended!).

Our legal address, on file with the IRS, is a PO box.  All we're trying to do is ensure our Customer Statements have the correct address in the header, and now we're faced with this fiasco.  Intuit refuses to grant an override, and demands that we complete another IRS address change.  Any one have any suggestions?

Did you receive any information on this? I just received an email from Intuit stating that due to a "Federal Compliance" I need to change company/owner address to a PO, otherwise direct deposit won't work as of 09/29/2023. I have not find said federal compliance demand for physical address. PO Box is what we have used for a long time for all our taxes. This could not come in a worst time for me as I'm about to go on vacation and had planed to have all may payroll taken care of while i'm gone. As others mentioned before, using our physical address is not what we want to do. I appreciate if anybody can assist on this.
