I'll clarify a few things about how these new estimates' layout works, enrique8.

QuickBooks estimates and invoices are improving. That said, your workflow for said entries will look different depending on whether you have the old or the new version of estimates and invoices.

To see which version of estimates and invoices you have, please follow these steps:

  1. Click the + New button.
  2. Choose Invoice or Estimate
  3. At the top left of the form, if you see “New” by the form title, then you’re currently using the new version.

  1. Click + New. Then select Estimate.
  2. Select + Add customer and select your customer from the ▼ dropdown.
  3. Choose + Add product or service. Then, in the Product or service field, select the ▼ dropdown and choose your product or service. Then add the rate, if needed.
  4. To request a deposit, select + Request a deposit. Then enter the amount.
  5. The payment methods for the deposit will display in the Ways to Pay section. To edit, turn on/off the switches under Payment methods.
  6. When you're done, select Email to save and send the estimate to your customer.
