I am moving my QB desktop to QB online.  Unfortunately there is already an issue.  I did a backup on 10-16-2023 that I could use if needed.  I have already processed payroll for 10-20-2023.  My question is if I try to restore with my backup will my payroll transactions show up?

Hello, kelper6. I appreciate your query regarding payroll transactions and their appearance when restoring a backup.

If you have completed the payroll processing before creating the backup, all transactions will be visible upon restoration. However, if it occurs after the backup creation, it will not be included in the restored data.

On the other hand, when you migrate from QBDT to QBO, there are limitations, and you may notice differences in how your books appear. Payroll information is limited during the conversion process, and payroll checks will come over as regular checks, so you will need to enter past payroll totals (year-to-date payroll information) for each employee. It's important to note that certain payroll features, such as pay types and employee personal information, may not be transferred from the Desktop version to the Online version.

I'm providing this article to assist you in gaining a better understanding of how your data was transferred to QBO: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
