Quickbooks desktop 2023

Hi,

I downloaded the Quickbooks Desktop Premier 2023 thinking it would upgrade the 2021 Version but it created a whole new desktop Icon. Now I have 2 Quickbook versions on my desktop. Why? and how do I fix this?

Hello there, @jsw01. I'll share some insights as to why you have two QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) applications on your personal computer or laptop.

Before anything else, please know that the QBDT 2021 and 2023 are two different releases. Hence, it's the reason you have two identical application icons on your screen.

Now, if you want to keep using your QBDT 2021, you can choose to update and have it run the newly improved version. However, if your company wants to expand and try new features on our program, you'll want to download our latest release of QuickBooks Desktop. The QBDT 2023.

To update your existing desktop app and have it run the newly improved version, here's how:

Go to Help and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
Select Update Now, then select Get Updates.
When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks.
When asked to install the update, select Yes.
When the install finishes, follow the on-screen instructions.

Hi,

thanks for the explanation. Not sure if I understand the info completely but i will review again. I don't remember doing this on previous upgrades, but I could be wrong.

Good morning,

I am downloading 2023 QB Desk Top Pro following the instruction below, but when I reopen QB, I entered 2022 QB again, not asked to install the update. Did I miss anything?

To update your existing desktop app and have it run the newly improved version, here's how:

I appreciate you for letting us know how the steps went on your end, @YiHong. I'll be glad to walk you through other ways of updating your QuickBooks Desktop account.

Since you haven't received any prompt to upgrade, let's modify your one time message prompts first. I'll show you how:

Go to Edit, and then select Preferences.
Select General, and then select My Preferences.
Select Bring back all one time messages, and then OK.
Close, then reopen QuickBooks. Check to see if you’ll have the prompt to upgrade your QuickBooks subscription.

If you're still unable to see a prompt to upgrade, it's possible that you've made a one-time purchase of QuickBooks. To proceed, follow the steps below:

Select Help, and then Upgrade QuickBooks.
Select the version you want to upgrade to, then select Upgrade Now.
You can keep a copy of your current version of QuickBooks. Select Keep old version on my computer, then select Let’s go.
