In this case, there are two specific answers we are looking for:

  • Concerning encryption for data at rest, what is the name and strength of the encryption algorithm in use?
    • Answers:
  • Concerning authentication, what is the name and associated salt length of the one-way-hashing algorithm in place to secure local accounts used for authentication?

Hi there, @daviskenneth43. Thanks for sharing your concerns in QuickBooks Community.

With regard to your queries about encryption algorithms, type of encryption we use is called AES-256 (Advanced Encryption Standard with 256-bit keys) and it ensures the highest level of cryptographic security.

To answer your questions about the name and associated salt length of the one-way-hashing algorithm in place to secure local accounts used for authentication, I'd suggest contacting our Intuit Developer Customer support. They can provide you the right info related to this query.

Simply go to the Contact Support section of this page to connect with them: https://help.developer.intuit.com/s/

In case you have any other questions about QuickBooks Desktop, you can browse for topics on our Help page.

Don't hesitate to post again if you have other QuickBooks concerns. I'm always around here in the Community Forum to help you.

I'm going to be honest here, blunt and to the point. I am getting the run around on this topic so I just need an answer. I called the Developer Support Line and talked to like 4 different people earlier today. On the 20th I contacted Customer Support for Quickbooks and they told me to call the Developers Support Line. Developers Support told me to put the Question here because this was and I quote "This was out of our scope" So yeah. I just need an answer.
