Quickbooks Mac 2009 ~ old school software?

Wow,

Dennis here. I am a sole proprietor since 2000. I've used Quickbooks Mac 2009, purchased on a disk

back when that is how we used to get software ha ha. I've used the Quickbooks Mac 2009 program on

a Mac Pro Tower computer running macOS 10.6.8. Yes, very outdated OS but it ran my necessary softwares,

including QB Mac 2009. Last year I added a 2017 27" iMac, running macOS 10.15.5 Catalina, to the workflow and worked back and forth between the two computers. I just recently replaced the Mac Pro tower with a 2013 27" iMac, running macOS 10.12.6 Sierra, and... surprise, my QuickBooks 2009 will not run on either

macOS. So, I logged into my Intuit account and am pretty confused about how to move forward. I'd like to just download a simple version of QB ( Freelance? ) that will run on both macOS platforms. Where do I begin? If I purchase the 'Freelance' version will that, not only open my QB 2009 business file, but do everything that I am used to in QB 2009?

Thanks.

Dennis

The QuickBooks 2009 is a discontinued version of QuickBooks. You may want to upgrade the latest version to continue running your business using our software. You can download a trial version of QuickBooks Desktop if you'd like to try before buying it.

Moreover, to ensure we're on the same page, will you please verify the simple version of QuickBooks Freelance you're referring?

In the meantime, you can check out these articles to know about the requirements before installing your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac:

Hi @MirriamM ,

Thanks for the input. Which version of Quickbooks for Mac should I use so that both the macOS Catalina and

macOS Sierra will run the software? Will the newer versions of QB~Mac open and/or convert my current company file: Dennis Roliff Photography(QB09) 3.qb2009

I've attached a screen cap of the 'Freelance' product description.

I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.

Best,

Dennis

Hello,

That "freelance" is QuickBooks Self-Employed.  It's an online ONLY software that runs in a browser.

You cannot convert your Mac 2009 data to QuickBooks Self-Employed.  QBSE (QuickBooks Self-Employed) is for very simple Schedule-C businesses.

If you are wanting to switch to an online product instead of desktop software, please check SimpleStart, Essentials, Plus or Advanced for the features you would need.

Otherwise use the links provided in the prior post to determine if you should stick with the latest version of QB Desktop for Mac 2020.

I just purchased a new tower and had everything transfer from my old one and I still can't get my 2009 qb back.

Which Windows OS do you run?

QuickBooks for Mac 2009 is an old version. With that said, it will only run on a computer that supports its current operating system. Once you upgrade your device, you'll need to make sure that it also meets the minimum requirements to operate the program.

You may want to upgrade it the latest version to continue running your business using our software. You can convert your file to QuickBooks Desktop. Simply contact our Intuit Data Service to change your file.

After converting your files, you can utilize the trial version of QBDT for Windows: How to download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

In case you want to purchase QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022, you can convert your file again to the Mac version. That way, you can use it on your computer that supports its system requirements.

Moreover, upon installing, you can check this article for guidance: Install and set up QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
