Question

Quickbooks online. Creating an estimate.

Is there a way to modify what is seen in the dropdown section for products/services within the "creating an estimate" form.

While creating an estimate, when asked for the product/service, which is where we put our model #'s, only the model number shows up. Is there a way to also have it include the part description as well. With 1600 products it's difficult to remember all of the 9 digit numbers without some sort of description.

I've heard your concern about the new layout that's been rolling out in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @specialtypipe. We heard your feedback and preference about showing the description beside the model number so you can easily identify it.

Right now, showing descriptions beside the product and service names is unavailable on the new estimate layout. I understand the importance of having this ability to easily identify your items when using them on a sales form and to help lessen and enable you to finish your workload quickly.

The feature may not be available for a newly enhanced layout; thus, I suggest sending this suggestion to our product development team. Our product developers are responsible for evaluating and implementing new enhancements, so they would be better equipped to determine the feasibility and benefits of your suggestion for our users:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter a brief description of your product suggestion.
  4. Click Next to submit feedback.

Moreover, you can see what’s new with estimates and invoices to learn what you can do with the new rolled-out experience. Aside from that, you can begin converting these estimates into an invoice once your clients accept it.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding estimates or sales transactions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I hope all your business endeavors continue to thrive. Take care!
