Question

Quickbooks Online is a TOTAL DUMPSTER FIRE

WHO in their right mind at Intuit approved this change in Quickbooks online?

I've been with Quickbooks for 20 years.  I don't use 80% of the features, I just need payroll and a bank register.

I have to watch a video to:

1. Make a Deposit.

2.  Pay a bill.

3.  Print a check (still trying to figure this out.

4.  Open by Bank Register (and it takes seconds for this and it's backwards and slow.

4.  Can't write a check to see how it affects my balance.

5.  Can't turn off auto pay employee taxes until the end of the month.

6.  Checks don't line up anymore and must download Adobe just to do it.

7.  Have to enter every category for every check I write AGAIN.

8.  Can't, for the life of me, figure out how to split a check with amounts in categories.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MESS.

Thank you INTUIT for making this next year's mission to find a way far from your products.

I hear your sentiments, Rick.

This isn't what I want you to experience with our features in QuickBooks Online. I'm here to assist you with your concerns one at a time.

When printing a check, ensure your printer is set up for QuickBooks. This way, your checks align and are printed out seamlessly.

A bank register that takes seconds and is slow to open depends on your number of transactions. Otherwise, too much historical data from your browser causes discrepancies that affect the view and performance of your QuickBooks. We can try logging in to your account in an incognito window to determine if this is a browser-related issue. You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Shift + Ctrl + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

If it works, you can return to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. You can also use another supported, up-to-date browser to narrow down the results.

To help me get on the same page about writing your checks, would you share if this is an expense check or an income? This way, I can guide you through the process.

We can only turn off auto-pay for employee taxes at the end of the month because we need to ensure first that the funds are deposited in the employee's bank.

Also, I'd agree with you about using Adobe to align checks, as this is recommended when printing checks.

When splitting your checks with the amount in categories, are these in the banking or the write check window? Additional information can help me determine the exact steps to provide.

If you need further assistance managing your books, feel free to sign up for our QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping. With this, you can meet with your bookkeeper at regular monthly appointments.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns about managing your QBO tasks. You can reach out to the Community at any time.

Intuit needs to realize there are, at the very least, TWO customers they serve:

1. that bills, makes invoices, blah, blah, blah and needs 80 - 90% of what even the most basic Quickbooks is.

and

2.  A business that only needs a bank register and payroll because they utilize software for everything else.

This is the bottom line.

I'm thinking Quicken and Payroll separately.  Hopefully Peachtree or some other company can do this because this is incredibly above and beyond anything I really need.

It's not up to me to learn this software anew - not at my age.  I simply got forced into a product that isn't what I need AT ALL.  Time for me to go shopping elsewhere.

But, thank you.  I just simply laugh at how incredibly hard, tucked away, brutally un-intuitive this software now is.

Oh, and not to meantion it's a continuous advertisement for more products and monthly subscription fees.

Sometimes the button you have to click is top left, sometimes it's bottom right, sometimes it's bottom left...

Who designed this layout???

And advertisements.  More advertisements, please, Intuit.  There simply isn't enough.

I'm going to continue ranting until I can sign up for paychex and continue using my three year old Quickbooks that hasn't changed in 12 years but was made to buy a new one ever three years...

Just wanted to jump into this conversation. I have been talking to Intuit about the QB online and do not need or want any of what they are offering. I watched a video on how it connects to your bank then creates a page that is virtually just like my banks page. Can I not open a second window, connect to my bank and do basically the same thing? I just want my payroll to work and don't want the headache of reinventing the wheel. After several conversations and feeling like I have no other options they tell me I can update to Desktop 2023. What the Heck!!! Why didn't they offer that to begin with? Hopefully it will solve the problem and I can go back to using QB like I have since 2005.

Thank you, Texas for making me feel better.

Our desktop version had a corrupted file in September 2023 and the Quickbooks team fixed the file.  However, I suggested we go to Quickbooks online.  The migration of AP, AR and General Accounting went well.  I called to get help with moving over Payroll and they said there wasn't a migration file for this and I had enter in manually. In the meantime, Quickbooks desktop updated and deleted payroll and I had to reenter the missing files manually.  After 2 months of reentering payroll and getting the data over to online, I had to input employer payroll taxes, but the number online calculated was different than desktop.  After three people and nearly two hours, the person on the other end deleted all of the payroll information I had input online and said when I run my first payroll, call them and they will put in the history for me. He didn't ask my permission or give me options. He just did it. Why didn't they just do this in the first place?  Why couldn't payroll migrate automatically? Two months of hard work just dumped down the drain.  Thanks Quickbooks.
