Quickbooks Point of Sale Discontinuation

We've used the full suite of Intuit products since the start of our business 17 years ago, so we have an enormous amount of transactional detail (encompassing both customers and vendors) that we cannot afford to lose since we access that detail daily. We've researched the Quicken-recommended option, but Shopify doesn't support transactional detail transfer, nor do any of the other options we have researched. 

So we have questions that I'm hoping some of you can answer. 

We will get a new payment provider, and there are many of those that can connect with Quickbooks, but we need to know if we will still be able to do file exchange between POS and Quickbooks. I've read that multi-store operations will no longer have this option, but they don't mention independent single store operations. Does anyone have information on this?
