Question

Receipts

When our receipts are getting uploaded into QB, it seems like part of the time its not finding the $$ amount to match it with on the receipt. As a result, I am unable to just match it with the related transaction (or have the system automatically match it up). Is this a known issue? Is the only way to resolve it to download & attach it in transactions instead? Thanks!

Thank you for dropping by the Community, Lisa. I'd be glad to help you sort out the issue with matching receipts.

Let me share some information on how it works. QuickBooks Online reads the receipts and extracts information, then automatically matches to a transaction. However, if some details of the receipts don't match the related transactions, then that's one possible reason QuickBooks is unable to find a match. I suggest checking the details of your receipt, specifically the date, description, and amount, to ensure that this should match correctly.

In addition, when you open your uploaded receipt, you have an option to manually search for a match in case QBO can't automatically find one. Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions. Then, Receipts.
  2. Click on an uploaded receipt where QB wasn't able to automatically find a match.
  3. Select Search for a match.
  4. Apply the applicable filters to find the recorded expense/bill transaction in QBO.

On the other hand, If QuickBooks didn't auto-detect your recorded expense or bill transaction for the uploaded receipt. Consider adding the receipts as an attachment is the best option. If the issue persist and unable to match, clear your browser's cache. There are times unexpected behavior occurs.
