Thank you for providing a screenshot of the transactions, edwardbmc. This helps us understand the situation, allowing us to offer more precise guidance on managing these transactions in QuickBooks Online.

To accurately reflect both the transfer and the bank's refund in your records, we recommend recording two separate transactions. This approach ensures easier reconciliation. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Click the + New button and select Check.
  2. Choose your name in the Payee ▼ field.
  3. Select the right bank account, then choose the same account that you used in the transfer in the Category column.
  4. Fill out the rest of the fields accordingly.
  5. Click Save and close.

After that, follow these steps to create a bank deposit to record the credit after the transfer was declined:

  1. Go back to the + New button and select Bank deposit.
  2. Enter all other details.
  3. Click Save and close

Then, match both transactions with the downloaded transactions in your online banking. Use this article as a guide: Categorize Online Bank Transactions In QuickBooks Online.
