Sales & Invoices Prefences in Quickbooks Premier Plus Contractor Desktop

Hi there, Bechard. Turning off automatic numbering for your invoices in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is not available. For recording purposes, QuickBooks will assign number to your invoices automatically. However, I’d be happy to provide another way for you to manually enter an invoice number.

As there is no option to disable this feature, you can manually change the suggested number based on your preference. Alternatively, you can customize your invoice layout and add another custom field to enter the invoice number manually.

If you wish to edit the layout of your invoice, you can follow these steps:

1. On the menu bar, click Customers.
2. Select Create Invoices. Then, go to the Formatting tab.
3. Click Customize Data Layout. 
4. On the Header section, locate the Invoice Number. 
5. Uncheck the box for Screen and Print. Then, remove the Invoice# label.
6. Locate the Other field, then mark check the two boxes. You can label it as an Invoice Number.
7. Click OK to apply the changes to your invoice.

Moreover, it's important to submit a feedback request to our product developers to highlight the need for an option to turn off automatic invoice numbering. By doing so, they can consider including this feature in future updates.

Furthermore, you can create a personalized template and control how they look and what information to add to your sales forms in QBDT.

Additionally, if your customer has unpaid invoices, you can create an automated payment reminder for them to be informed.
