Not sure what you're referring to. Perhaps if you attach a screenshot that will help.

I will make sure this gets sorted out, Sarah Johnson.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue of your QuickBooks display. First, you'll need to change the QuickBooks DPI settings, here's how:

  1. Right-click the QuickBooks icon.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. On the Compatibility tab, select Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
  4. Select Apply then OK.
  5. Open QuickBooks and check to see if the windows are available.

Next, let's change the Desktop View Preference, here's how:

  1. Open your company file.
  2. At the top menu bar, click Edit.
  3. Go to Preferences.
  4. Select Desktop View.
  5. Select My Preferences.
  6. Switch View from Multiple Windows to One Window.

Right after, you'll need to change the Windows DPI settings and edit the screen resolution settings on your computer. You can check out this article for detailed steps: QuickBooks Desktop display issues.

Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Help Articles for QuickBooks Desktop.

That should do it! Let me know how it works on your end. I’m always here to help you in resolving screen display issues. Have a great day!

Mine does this a couple of times a month. I've tried the Tool Hub/QB Doctor and nothing helps. Just have to restart my computer and carryon. It is SO ANNOYING!!!

@SPELLC  I have heard that this is related to memory issues in QuickBooks.

I've ran into it several times; generally, after spending several hours inputting data, various parts of the program display will turn black and white and make it next to impossible to keep working.

Unfortunately, the only resolution I've ever found is to close and re-open QuickBooks to flush the build-up. Haven't needed to restart the entire computer, at least.

Yes - exactly when it happens, after I've been heavily working in it. I guess I could try just the program, but usually just do the whole machine. My IT guy encourages a full restart when software goes berserk, it helps reset everything, so I just do what he says 🙂

I wish they'd find a fix for it!!
