SDK Acces, Multi-User Mode & Number of Users

We recently upgraded to Enterprise 23.0. Due to the cost of additional users, we opted to pay for just a single user. We use the SDK 13.0 tool to push invoices into QB from another piece of software, and this requires QB to be in multi-user mode to work. When I try to put QB into Multi-user, it crashes. Two questions:

1. Is it crashing because we only have a single user license?

2. Is there a way to allow the SDK tool to push invoices into QB without paying for another user license? If so, how?

Generally, switching between single and multi-user modes in QuickBooks does not cause the program to crash or shut down. However, if your license has been modified to accommodate only one seat, you won't be able to utilize the multi-user function.

 

More often than not, QuickBooks suddenly shutting down is typically caused by computer-related problems or by how QuickBooks interacts with your system. To address this, you can install and utilize the QuickBooks Tool Hub, which assists in checking and fixing minor bugs and common QuickBooks Desktop issues.

 

Allow me to share these steps with you:

 

  1. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). You can look it up in your Downloads folder or in the location you selected when you downloaded it.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. Once opened, look for Program Problems, then select Quick Fix my Program.
  6. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

QuickBooks Team, Are you able to tell me if we have to have an additional license to operate in Multi-user mode and allow the SDK to access QB? That's all I really need to know.

Yes, you'll have to avail additional license to operate in Multi-user mode and to allow the SDK to access QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). However, if you have to use it in Single-user mode alternatively, the system won't let your SDK access QuickBooks.

On the other hand, you can consider setting up a private cloud environment, especially when you want to avail only two user licenses. You only need internet access to let every user handle your company file while using SDK to access QuickBooks. Why do you have to use Enterprise? Can you consider downgrading to Pro or Premier to lower your cost running multiuser mode?

Honestly, I don't even remember why we went with Enterprise. Intuit's options were so confusing and frustrating. The whole process was a nightmare. There was a reason we were forced to go with Enterprise. I think it had to do with incorporating the payroll services instead of paying significant extra fees for that.
