Setting Default Class for Quickbooks Online

Hello

I use credit cards for the majority of my costs.  I import the credit card transactions, with 2 Class splits: Company 1 and Company 2.  85% of the transactions are for Company 1.  How can I set up Quickbooks online to classify all under company 1 so I only have to edit 15% of the transactions.

I have been unable to find a relevant article or anything dated since 2019.

Let me help you set up your credit transactions so you'll be able to identify them correctly, WA151.

For now, setting up a default class to classify transactions is unavailable. You'll want to let our product team know how this is useful for your business by sending a request. To do so, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the  Gear ⚙ icon, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

This goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QuickBooks Online. You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

In the meantime, you can use bank rules. This feature  will ask QuickBooks Online (QBO) to prefill some information when transactions are downloaded from the bank.

The more QuickBooks uses your bank rules, the better it gets at categorizing. It can even scan transactions and add details like payees. For more information, you can check out this article on how to set it up: Set Up Bank Rules To Categorize Online Banking Transactions In QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, learn how to make your accounts balanced and accurate. Check out this complete reconciliation guide: Reconcile An Account In QuickBooks Online.

You can always let me know if you need further assistance when classifying bank transactions. Remember, we're always right here to help you 24/7. Have a nice day ahead!
