Setting up a Subdivided Budget by Location and expense tracking by locaiton, Desktop

The option to set up a location in QBDT is unavailable. With that, you're unable to generate a Subdivided Budget by Location.

However, you can use class tracking as a workaround to track your expenses by location. You can configure location as a class and use it when creating your budget.

To turn on class tracking:

1. Open your company file.

2. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.

3. Click on Accounting, then go to the Company Preferences tab.

4. Select the Use class tracking for transactions checkbox.

5. Hit OK.

Once done, make class categories for expenses and accounts. Here's how:

1. Go to the Lists menu and select Class List.

2. From the Class drop-down, choose New.

3. Type the class name and tap OK.

Once done, follow this steps to track the Subdivided Budget by Class:

1. Go to the Company menu, then choose Planning & Budgeting.
2. Select the Set Up Budget.
3. Hit the Create New Budget option.
4. Pick a period and budget type.
5. Hit Next, then choose Class as the budget criteria.
6. If you select Profit and Loss, select either Create budget from scratch or Create budget from the previous year's actual data.
7. Click Finish and enter the necessary info.

Additionally, you can run reports to track your expenses and show how your business is doing.
