Question

Shopify inventory synced with Quickbooks online

Ok...I synced my Shopify and Quickbooks Online with the 'connector' because it said you can sync products and inventory levels. I'm having trouble

I am trying to sync inventory and products between Quickboos Online and Shopify.

Inventory deducted via a quickbooks invoice will also be deducted from Shopify inventory of the same product.

Shopify inventory deduction via online sale will also be deducted from Quickbooks inventory of the same product.

Is there a way to do this? Do I need a 3rd party app?

If so, what is the best app to use?

Hello there. I appreciate you taking the time to come by here in the Community forum. I've got a few pieces of information for you about how QuickBooks Online and Shopify integration works.

Integrating Shopify with QuickBooks Online (QBO) does not import inventory and only supports summarized sales data based on Payouts from Shopify Payments or ShopPay. These are broken down into the following categories; sales, shipping income, discount, selling fees, reserved balance, pending balance, and sales tax payable.

You may refer to this article for more information and go to the FAQs section: How Shopify works with QuickBooks Online

With this, you can consider looking for a supported third-party application that enables you to track your inventory from both parties. I'll be glad to provide this link so you can explore our Appstore: Apps help QuickBooks run better. You can maximize the results by typing some keywords and reading some reviews for better recommendations.

Additionally, feel free to utilize this article in case you'll encounter the most common Shopify issues which we've highlighted: Troubleshoot Shopify issues.

thanks. that's helpful.

Can you suggest any third-party apps that will help me track inventory?

Chiming in on this thread to guide you in selecting the most suitable third-party app you can integrate with QuickBooks Online (QBO) so you can track inventory between QBO and Shopify.

QBO offers an extensive selection of tools and add-ons that seamlessly integrate to automate bookkeeping, invoicing, inventory, data entry, and more. These simple interfaces simplify operations to help small and medium-sized businesses run smoothly.

Since we're unable to specify an application that can help you in accomplishing your task, here's how to search for a third-party app in QBO:

  1. Go to Apps and select Find Apps.
  2. Search for a keyword in the search bar and press Enter.
  3. Select an app and click Get app now to integrate.

Additionally, utilize reports in QBO to gain valuable insights into the things you buy and sell, as well as your inventory status.

Let me know whenever you have more questions about the Shopify and QBO integration. I'm here to lend you a hand. Keep safe and have a good one!

@Maison Bonesaw

You can explore an inventory management app as the connector.

@piercew

Have you explored the inventory management app as I mentioned earlier?

Hi, I am having a couple of issues. Quickbooks sync the shopify transactions, but it doesn't create an invoice.  When the orders are from my wholesale customers, I must attach the invoice to that customer. Since it doesn't, I have to manually enter the entire invoice into quickbooks under that customers name. That will duplicate the items that are taken out of inventory. Once on the website, and a second time when I enter the invoice.

Also, I  switched to shopify credit card processing only from the very costly credit card processing that I used to have. I used to get charged monthly for the fees, so the amount that funded, was the amount I charged and it matched the transaction. It was a pleasure, it was quick.

Shopify payouts totals are the amounts I charged minus what they are charging me for the transaction. That means I can't match the transaction. Sometimes it gets complicated knowing to which transaction it belongs to, because the numbers are not the original amounts I charged.

Can anyone help me out with these issues?

@Ovvel

Consider having a 3rd party app as the connector to avoid duplication.

do you suggest a third party app to accomplish this?

Hello!

It looks like QuickBooks Online doesn’t automatically sync inventory changes in real-time between QuickBooks and Shopify. Unfortunately, the built-in connector might not handle this as smoothly as expected. A good workaround would be to use a third-party app that specifically manages this sync. You could try using an app like TradeGecko (now QuickBooks Commerce), or Stocky for inventory management. These can help automate the process and ensure your stock levels are updated on both platforms.

If you'd like a more hands-on solution with mobile devices, you could also consider Cleverence Warehouse 15. It integrates directly with QuickBooks and allows you to track inventory in real-time with barcode scanning and mobile devices. You can manage stock take, transfers, and shipments, and the app ensures that QuickBooks always has the most accurate inventory picture.
