SMS verification code to add accountant under Manage Users in Accountant View

Does anyone know a way to fix this issue below...?

I'm use my email address and password to login to Quickbooks Online on macOS. Next I'm prompted for SMS verification and it shows the last 4 digits of my mobile number. It doesn't work, so I use email verification which does work. Next, I go to the gear icon > Accountant View > Manage Users > Add User > enter in first and last name and email address, then click Next. On this screen, Intuit/QBO requires SMS verification only and it's not working! Meanwhile, my CPA is sitting on a video chat screen and I'm unable to provide him with access. As we know CPA's aren't cheap. What also should be embarrassing to QBO is that their chat support, including the supervisors are baffled by this simple issue as if I'm asking them to help me with API integrations. Oh, and the CPA is a Quickbooks Online Pro Advisor.

If anyone knows a workaround, I'd be grateful to hear how you did it.

This platform is so so outdated and clunky. Sigh...

I hear your sentiments, and I wish I could make your support experience better, @danpnyla.

Let me share a few reasons why the SMS verification code is not working. Before doing so, would you mind telling me if you received the security code but won't go through or if you didn't receive any of it at all?

If you're not getting it, you can double-check the following:

  1. Make sure that you're typing in the correct phone number. In some cases, Intuit will tell you the number (or the last 4 digits) of the phone number the verification code was sent to.
  2. Your phone can receive SMS. Sometimes, if you are roaming, or in an area with poor reception, you may experience delays.
  3. Your phone plan allows you to receive messages from short codes (5 Digit Numbers). Even if you are able to receive SMS from friends and family, your plan may not allow you to receive SMS from companies that use shortcodes to send you messages.  To check if this is the case, contact your mobile operator support number and ask if your plan allows you to “Receive SMS from shortcodes”. If this functionality is disabled, ask your mobile carrier to turn it on in order to start receiving SMS.

If you received a code but it is not working, this is most likely because you have generated multiple codes and are not using the most recent one. You can perform the steps below to rectify this.

  1. Click Didn’t receive a code, then wait until the new code arrives. This may take several minutes. Use the most recent code sent to you.
  2. Leave the window open that asks for the code; closing it will invalidate the code.
  3. Open another tab, or window, or use a different browser to check your email for the code.

Please keep in mind that some email platforms append emails from the same sender, so your latest code may display as a response or reply to one of the earlier codes.

If you have access to your Intuit account, I recommend checking the number you added. When entering a phone number, make sure to select the correct country and include the area code. You can edit it if necessary.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit account.
  2. From the left menu, choose Sign In & Security.
  3. Under the Phone section, tap the Verify link. Then, hit Change.

I'm adding this article that provides solutions on how to fix log-in issues in QuickBooks Online: Recover your Intuit Account if you can’t sign in.

Please do come back here if you have any clarifications or need help with QuickBooks. I'm more than happy to lend a hand. Stay safe always.

I am not getting an SMS or voice call to verify the code, but my mobile number is verified and I'm pretty certian it was working before.  I have now also tried my home number via voice call, and another mobile number of voice or SMS and neither is working.  HELP!
