Question

Snap Receipt

I am using the "Snap Receipt" option on the Quickbooks app. When I put the document in the camera frame and it shows the whole thing highlighted in green, I push the shutter button. And, it takes a picture of the top corner (or some other small portion) of the document. I'd say it does this at least 75% of the time. It does the same thing to my husband when he does it on his phone. It's so frustrating. Any solutions

I understand how you want to capture the document successfully using the Snap Receipt feature in your QuickBooks Online mobile app, @LETx. Don't worry, I know some troubleshooting steps to help you sort this out.

We can begin by clearing your app's cache to refresh the data. There are times when the stored cache can cause unusual behavior in the system. Please refer to the steps below.

For Android:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top right.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Then, click Refresh Data and tap Yes.

For iOS:

  1. Click the menu button.
  2. Then, choose Help & Feedback.
  3. Tap Refresh Data and click Refresh.

Once done, capture the document again and see if it works without issues. If the same thing happens, I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the application to have a clean slate.

After uploading your receipts, it's best to review and categorize them into the appropriate accounts. Doing so helps determine tax deductions and tells you where your business makes and spends money.
