Question

Stockroom qty and sales floor qty

I want to create custom inventory qty fields in order to keep my sales floor stocked up. So I wanted to have a stockroom qty and sales floor qty that would add up to the total on-hand qty. And everytime an item is sold it would subtract from the sales floor and on-hand qty count. Any ideas if I can create these features with Quickbooks desktop POS 19.0?

Welcome to the Community, Cerrito.

I'm here to share information about customizing inventory in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Before anything else, can you tell us what QBDT product you're using?

If you're using QBDT Enterprise, you can utilize the Multiple Inventory Sites feature in QuickBooks. This will allow you to set up multiple locations for tracking inventory. Below is the list of the benefits included in the feature:

  • Keep track of how much inventory (number of units and dollar value) you store at each site (warehouse).
  • Assign items you purchase to a specific location.
  • Sell items from a specific location.
  • Move your inventory to other locations, bins, etc.
  • Build assemblies with parts from different locations.
  • Run Site specific reports.

For detailed information, kindly visit: Multiple Inventory Sites.

To enable the Multiple Inventory Sites feature, here's how:

  1. On your QBDT file, click on the Edit menu, then select Preferences. Note: Make sure you have switched to Single-User mode.
  2. From the list on the left side of the screen, select Items & Inventory, then click on Company Preferences.
  3. Make sure the Inventory and purchase orders are active checkbox is checked.
  4. Then click on the Advanced Inventory Settings.
  5. In the Multiple Inventory Locations tab, make sure the Multiple Inventory Sites is enabled box is checked.

For detailed steps, kindly visit: How to manage multiple inventory locations with Advanced Inventory.

On the other hand, if you're using QBDT Pro or Premier, I recommend using a third-party application.

Moreover, I'll also share this link where you can search for articles that can guide you in managing your inventory in QBDT: QuickBooks Desktop Help Articles.
