Subtotals Dialog Box

Please see attached screenshots.

I am trying to subtotal Column Q at every change in column E. I have sorted the sheet A to Z. I go to Data Tab and then under "outline" group I click on "subtotal". The subtotal dialog box opens as shown. The first drop down is correct "at each change in SOURCE NAME" I then select Sum...no problem. The problem is the Add Subtotal to: I only have one column to select from and I need to select column Q "Open Balance". All the instructions I see indicate all columns should be an option in the "Add Subtotal to:" box. How do I choose the column I want to subtotal? 

Additionally the drop down arrow "At each change in:" will only display the column I have selected a cell in. So I can't select anything there either.
