Tags - Splitting Charges

Is it possible to have the tags split the charges as well? I have a hotel charge that had food on it, but one account 'travel expense' to code both lines to. So I split the charge and put (2) tags - lodging & food. But when I run a report, the entire amount is under lodging. I know I can create a subaccount to split the charge to instead, but I want to avoid adding multiple subaccounts to be able to see the $$ breakdown.

Thanks!

Hello, Lisa.

I’d like to share some information about how tags work in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Tags are a powerful organizational tool that allows you to categorize and track transactions based on customizable criteria. You can tag invoices, expenses, and bills, use group tags, and generate reports to assess specific areas of your business.

While you can add multiple tags to a single transaction, the total amount cannot be split between the tags and its whole amount will still show up, as it can't be assigned to each line.

Moreover, you can check this article to learn more about this feature: Tag transactions in QuickBooks Online.
