Tax ID Error

I signed into QB this morning and now received an error for Tax ID's.  I click on every vendor and the tax ID shows up as a bunch of letters and symbols.  How does that corrected as I don't have time to re-enter tax ID's for all my vendors. What caused this to happen?  I used Premier Contractor Edition 2019.

I apologize for posting twice. I wasn't sure if that item was closed so I posted my own.  It seems that every time Microsoft updates their software is when this issue happens.

when i tried to open QB it asked me for an id/password, never did this before. Then as I tried to enter information for a vendor I got an error response on the tax id. I opened the vendor id and found out all the information about the vendor is missing and the tax id is a mixture of junk letters/numbers. It doesn't let me correct the tax id. All the vendors I have are all missing their original information. I'm trying to figure out how to get this information back as well as understand what caused this problem.

Ryan,

is this marked as solved because you solved it? If so, i would really appreciate the solution.

I have the same problem but unfortunately tech support hasn't been able to fix it. I've tried calling in the past 3 days and have waited on the line for over an hour each time and still can't get this resolved. Very unfortunate.

I am having the same issue.

What needs too be done to fi\x this?  I need to prepare 1099's and need this information to be correct.

Thanks for following along with the thread and sharing your concerns, @bananaphone.

I reviewed our investigation, it has been marked as closed.

To clarify, have you tried opening QuickBooks as the system admin, setting firewall ports, or creating a new windows user as my colleague has mentioned above? If not, I encourage you to give those troubleshooting steps a try, as they are the guided steps our Engineering Team has provided to resolve the error.

I'm including some steps and help guides to walk you through the process of each solution, in case you've not got the chance to try them yet.

  1. Change all QuickBooks users passwords to a complex password (at least 7 characters including 1 uppercase letter and 1 number).
  2. Run QuickBooks as Admin (Right click the QB icon> Properties> Compatibility> check the box to run as Admin> Save and close).
  3. Set up Firewall ports- https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/access-data-remotely/set-up-firewall-and-security-settings-for-quickbooks-desktop/00/201468
  4. Create a new Windows user- https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/multi-user-mode/create-windows-users-and-give-them-administrator-rights/00/203432

If you continue to have issues with the error, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team for further review. This way, one of our agents can investigate this matter further and if needed, can send this issue back to our Engineer's.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with today. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!
