Thanks for posting here in the Community, @Patricia51. I'm here to provide some troubleshooting steps to help you fix the issue with your QuickBooks dashboard.

If you're using the  QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) program and it's the latest release and has performed the troubleshooting steps above, but the issue persists, we can run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks tools to repair your program. It's designed to fix the problems with functionalities that aren't working. Here’s how:

  1. Close your QuickBooks account.
  2. Download the most recent version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub, then save the file somewhere you can easily locate it.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install.
  5. When the installation finishes, open the Tool Hub on your Windows desktop.
  6. Select Program Problems and click Quick Fix my Program.
  7. Run the QBDT program to open your company file and check your register.

However, if you're using the QuickBooks Online (QBO) program, I suggest following the steps through a private/incognito window if you haven't tried it. The private window will not save any history, making it a good place to identify browser problems. To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you can click the button using a private browser, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Otherwise, using other supported browsers can be a good alternative too.

If everything's good with your dashboard, you'll want to visit this article to manage your customers, vendors, items, and financial accounts in QBDT: Get started with QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm always around to lend a hand if you need more help with managing your chart of accounts or anything else related to QuickBooks. Keep safe.
