Transfer Sales Orders into Build Assemblies

I am rather new to my business and to QuickBooks.  I was looking at our Open Sales by Customer report and I realized we have a lot of open sales orders which turned out to created when we manufacture parts that will be sold to customers using different sales orders and invoices. Investigating this issue, I realized that these sales orders actually represent build assemblies and should have been done through the Build Assemblies process.  

 

Is there a way I can transfer these open sales orders into Build Assemblies? How would I do that?

Yes, you can delete sales orders and create a new build for the items in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

 

Since we can't directly transfer sales orders to build assemblies, we'll need to delete sales orders individually, as there's no batch deletion option.

 

Here's how you can delete a sales order:

 

  1. Click on the Customer at the top menu bar
  2. Go to the Customer Center.
  3. Select Transactions.
  4. Click Sales Orders.
  5. Locate the sales order transactions you want to delete.
  6. Click Delete.
  7. Select Save & Close to apply the changes.

 

After deleting, you can proceed to build the assembly. For more information on how to do this, refer to the article: Combine your inventory items to finished goods (assemblies).

 

Additionally, I'd like to share how to track the products you manufacture, which provides insights into managing the items you build using inventory parts.
