This is BILLING 101 guys, there's NO NEED FOR THIS NONSENSE to start popping up on every task I try to do!!! Please help - I can't handle this kind of brain damage every time I try to just do my job.

Hello there, @katie-hill. I appreciate your input from every angle.

Turning off permanently the suggestion pop-ups is unavailable. Those are designed to guide and suggest you on how to optimize your QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience.

In the meantime, what you can do is to click on the or No, thanks buttons to prevent the pop-ups from showing up again.

I know how the feature you want would be helpful in the program. The Community recognizes feedback and suggestions from customers like you which can help us improve our product and services to our customers' delight.

While we continue to make your experience with us even better, I recommend visiting our QuickBooks Blog to get the recent news, information about the latest features, and updates.

Please know that I'm always here to help you if you any other questions about QuickBooks, just leave a comment below. Have a nice day.

This to me is a totally unacceptable response. These fields and suggestions continue to be completely inaccurate - and I cannot be adding hundreds of extra clicks to the tasks I have to complete each day simply to remove these needless, bothersome, time-consuming 'suggestions' that DO NOT IN ANY WAY ENHANCE MY EXPERIENCE AS A USER. IT HAS QUITE THE OPPOSITE EFFECT AND ADDS TIME TO MY WORKDAY THAT IS SIMPLY NOT AVAILABLE. Please get your team to devise a way so seasoned users can turn off ALL SUGGESTIONS at their pleasure - they do absolutely nothing of value for me or my colleagues.

Hi there, katie-hill.

I can definitely see how an option to turn off suggestions could be useful for some users. As my colleague, MirriamM, mentioned, there isn't a setting which makes these tips not display.

I've gone ahead and sent feedback to our Product Development Team about this. If you'd like to submit your own suggestion, you can while signed in.

Here's how:
1. Use your Gear (⚙) icon.
2. Click Feedback.
3. Enter your suggestions and/or comments.
4. Hit Next.

5. Choose Skip and send message.
6. The available drop-down menu can be used to pick an appropriate category.
7. Select Send message.

Your feedback is definitely valuable. Once submitted, it will be reviewed and considered in future updates. Feature requests can be tracked through our Customer Feedback page.

You'll be able to stay up-to-date with the latest news about QuickBooks Online in Intuit's What's New in QBO Archives.

If there's anything else I can help with, feel more than welcome reach out anytime. Have a wonderful day!

When on the invoice screen. Click the gear icon in the upper right - toward the bottom of the drop-down, click the "smart suggestions" button to off.  I agree - it is a ridiculous featrue!

October 6, 2020

Ugh. I can't find how you turned it off. It's real pain in the arse.

October 12, 2020

THANK YOU- SAME!! OUR ENTIRE OFFICE IS GOING CRAZY DAY ONE. PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE THIS DANTE'S 5TH CIRCLE OF HELL END!!

October 13, 2020

The suggestion icon started showing up for me today when I was using our recurring invoices for last week sales reports. Needless to say, I have no need for it and I have no way of turning it off. If I click the gear while in an invoice, it says nothing about turning smart suggestions, or whatever it is called, off

October 13, 2020

Same! I can't find a way to shut it off anywhere. I love paying to be annoyed lol.

October 16, 2020

This has caused unnecessary frustration for myself and my team. I'm surprised the Quickbooks staff allowed this to go live without a way of disabling it. This needs to be set as a top priority for the development team. Put it as an option in the Quickbooks Labs so we can use it only if we want.

I agree, these popups are the most aggravating and annoying actions some genius thought of.  Then to put them in place with no option of getting rid of them is absurd.  Just my 2 cents, QBO is NOT my favorite accounting program.

October 21, 2020

Totally agree.  All the pop-ups are so annoying.  How doe they know what amount we want to enter on our invoices.  So stupid.  I just want to turn the "suggestions" off and send an invoice normally.  Probably need to look for another software.

Finally figured it out (I think!). I was going to the wrong gear icon. You have to be in an actual invoice screen (not the home screen, not the invoice overview screen, not the customer screen, etc.) and when you click on the gear icon there you'll find the option people are mentioning to turn off smart suggestions. See screenshots.

The solution presented only works temporarily :(

Katie - totally agree with you! It's as if they are appealing to fourth graders to buy their product.

There is simply no reason that a preference (either mine or company wide) can't be added quickly to the programming code to accomplish this suggestion.

Our time is valuable, we shouldn't be spending it on useless 'clicks' in the process.

Agreed! The changes that have been made recently have made out online experience more difficult. I will be posting several changes that are costing me more money and time.

The Pop Up Suggestions are not necessary. The people that make these changes obviously don't use the software on a daily basis for their business.

When I convert a PO to a bill, I am receiving pop up suggestions to add items from 2016. How does that help? I can change a PO before I save it to a bill. If I am converting a PO to a bill, I am obviously happy with the PO and don't need any suggestions. This is flat out one of the most worthless changes that I have seen.

There should be a way to turn this off!

More to come!

I completely agree.  It takes 10 extra clicks it seems every time we get an QBO update.  The purpose of the updates is to make our work easier - not harder.  Stop upgrading to additional AI information.  Each customer of ours is unique - I can't generate generic information for every person.  And the AI pop ups are so annoying!

I recognize the importance of working without interference to complete your business tasks seamlessly, tanyam.

The option to disable pop-up suggestions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unavailable. We value your ideas. I recommend providing feedback directly to our product engineers so they can consider implementing them in future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
  2. Fill in your suggestions in the Feedback field.
  3. Click Next to submit.

I'll add this link so you can track the status of your request and get the latest updates from our development team. QuickBooks Online Customer Feedback.

In addition, you can check out this article to learn how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further questions about QBO displays, please let me know and I'm always here to assist you.

So essentially what you're saying is that Intuit is more interested in adding features that they "think" your customers want rather than actually giving a sh*^ about what your customers actually need and want and serves them in their business.

I know that the software industry has turned from client-focused to company-focused (i.e. profits first). It's not just Intuit. In the past 20 years, things have gone from bad to very very bad in terms of usability and user-focused design. In fact, I suspect that there are no no use cases at all prepared when designing or redesigning software features aka bells and whistles.

Continually marketing to me about new features while I'm trying to do my bookkeeping is simply wrong. I have to click the X on one Quickbooks feature ad or another on every single page I encounter in QB Online.  Why can't your precious AI tell that I'm not interested in ANYTHING else QB has to offer WHILE I'M WORKING and stop forcing me to waste my time and interrupt my train of thought?? That would actually be doing something useful for me and my business.

Very disappointing but not at all surprising. Such a simple thing to make global controls to allow customers to use the product the way it works FOR THEM.
