Question

Unable to complete this operation. Will restart automatically when Changing Other Items type to Vendor

When trying to change type from Other List to Vendor:

 

 

QB is unable to complete this operation and needs to restart. QuickBooks will restart automatically.

 

Already updated to latest version.  Already verify and rebuild data. PC has a lot of memory available. Running windows 10.

 

Same problem when using a Windows 11 PC.

I recognize that this isn't an easy process for you, @account1502. I'll provide some insights and ideas to help you sort things out.

 

Considering the troubleshooting procedures you've taken, I suggest that we use the QuickBooks Desktop repair tool. This enables QBDT to be restored to the installation state without any additional updates. 

 

Before doing so, make sure to create a backup company file. This allows you to easily restore your data in case you run into errors. 

 

Then, here's how to repair QuickBooks:

 

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu.
  3. Select the Control Panel.
  4. Choose Programs and Features, then click on Uninstall a Program.
  5. Select QuickBooks from the list of programs, then hit Uninstall/Change.
  6. Click on Continue or Next.
  7. Select Repair, then Next.
  8. Once done, click on Finish.
