Unable to use arrow key on invoice to move down to next line!

Before this update I was able to use the arrow key to move to the next line. Now I have to click on each line if I need to make changes. I have 50+ items on each invoice and this is really slowing down productivity. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Good evening, @SK Food Supplies

Welcome back to the Community!

To get clarification, let's try using some troubleshooting steps to help eliminate any errors or glitches that could be occurring. Here's how to use a private browser or incognito window to help out:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift +
  • Internet/Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If this works, please go back to your regular session and clear your browser's history. If not, please try another support browser.

Reach back out and let me know if these actions worked for you. I'm only a post away!

Hi Candace,

Using incognito *private browsing* did not work. I cleared my history and that still didn't work. I used a different browser and that didn't worth either. Let me know if there is anything else I can try.

It's good to see you back, SK Food Supplies.

I appreciate you performing some steps to resolve the issue you're having when creating an invoice. Allow me to join the thread and provide information about the new invoice layout.

Currently, using the arrow key to move to the next line when creating an invoice is no longer possible. Instead, with the new update, you can use the Tab key on your keyboard to move to the next line.

We understand how important it is to ensure a seamless experience while managing your transactions, and we continuously strive to improve our program features to enhance your experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO). As such, we are gradually rolling out new updates that include the new invoice layout.

We encourage you to submit your feedback requests to our product developers within your QBO account. This will help our team to better understand your concerns and suggestions and improve your experience while using the program.

To send feedback, follow the below steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Additionally, you can personalize and add specific information to your invoices. To learn more, check out this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any further queries or require additional assistance while managing your invoices. We are always here to help, SK Food Supplies. Have a great day!

This is UNACCEPTABLE!  There is no reasoning to disable keyboard arrows - you have added 1000's of extra keystrokes for the user trying to enter large invoices/estimates with many line items.  We pay for this software, and you continue to make it WORSE.  Just fix it - enable arrow function - how hard is that?

June 4, 2024

Just chiming in again to say how this is growing increasingly frustrating.  I was hoping it would be fixed in short order.  I can't imagine this is a hard fix.  Just enable the same arrow key functionality we used to have.  This is EXTREMELY inefficient.

July 22 I called back to check on this exact issue (ticket was submitted all the way back in May)

They claimed it was "working as intended...."

QBO keeps getting worse and worse.

I was rejoicing happy tears when this was finally fixed.  The enter button to scroll down would be even easier, but I will take the arrow.

Now it seems however, that when you use the arrow to scroll down, the entire cell is no longer highlighted for you to type over and instead the curser is at the end of the cell.  So if someone is in the cell, you are now forced to delete it before you can retype in the cell?  Why do we keep moving backwards with efficiency?  This is almost worse than not being able to use the arrow.  So many extra key clicks.  Can we fix this?

I completely understand that adapting to changes in the platform can take some getting used to, nazzouz.

I can see how the option to highlight an entire cell can enhance your workflow. However, this feature has been updated so that the cursor appears at the end of the cell. Your experience is important to us, and feedback like yours helps us improve. I encourage you to share your thoughts with our development team for consideration in future updates.

Here's how you can do this:

  1. Head to the gear icon.
  2. Under Profile, select Feedback.
  3. Enter your product suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit.

In the meantime, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A to highlight the cell's contents and make the necessary edits.

Can you explain why this "enhancement" was made and how this improves anyones process?  For the record, I find it extremely frustrating and inefficient.  I would appreciate this feedback being recorded and consider for a change in the near future.
