Hello, patchison.

I've got the steps you need to set up unbilled costs in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can utilize the Billable Expense feature to track unbilled costs. This allows you to easily record costs that you intend to charge your customers.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and settings.
  3. Under the Account and settings, click on Expenses.
  4. From the Bill and expenses section, select Edit.

    Turn on the following:

    • Show Item table on expense and purchase forms
    • Track expenses and items by customer
    • Make expenses and items billable
  5. Click Save, then Done

We can now create an unbilled cost, and perform the following:

  1. On the left Navigation Panel, select New.
  2. In the Vendors section, choose Expense
  3. Fill out the necessary information.
  4. Under the Item/category details, select the Billable checkbox.
  5. Click Save and close.

To review them:

  1. Go to Sales.
  2. Select All sales.
  3. From the Type dropdown, select Unbilled Income
