Question

Unclear what versions I need for multiple businesses?

I have sixteen companies. I hired a bookkeeper. She's not sure what version of QuickBooks we need but she is trained in it.

Seems like some of the online versions only work for a single business. I have 16, some of them are subsidiaries of each other and some are independent.

Can anyone help me understand what version of QuickBooks I need? I've been doing my books in spreadsheets for years before now and my accountants hate me for it... Lol... It's not clear on the website guide when dealing with multiple QuickBooks files which ones can handle that and which can't.

The IRS requires one financial data file per business

QBO is one data file/subscription per business

QBDT, desktop, is one install and as many business data files as your hard drive can hold

Do the math

QBO requires that you subscribe to QBO plus or higher if you carry inventory, so that subscription rate is the one to use if there is inventory items

@Atachnyd

QB Desktop.

If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you can explore another program. You can use it for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.
