Installing the latest desktop release is important to get the most recent product enhancements and important fixes, Mary53. Let me offer some alternative solutions for a smooth update process.

Before we proceed, let me shed some light on the installation issue you're experiencing. Several users have reported that the update gets stuck in the installation stage. Our engineers are all hands on deck working towards finding the permanent resolution.

In the meantime, let's head to the Downloads & Updates site and download the patch. Here's how:

  1. Click on this link: Downloads & Updates.
  2. In the Standard setup screen, choose your region (United States (US) from the Select Country drop-down.
  3. Pick QuickBooks Desktop Pro from the Select Product drop-down and 2024 for the version.
  4. Click the Search button.
  5. In the Here's your product screen, click the Get the latest updates link to install the update.

If you can't install the patch, uninstall the desktop program. Next, download the R9 version of QBDT from the Downloads and Updates site and use the new file to install it. Make sure to create a backup copy of the company file to prevent data loss.

If none of these suggestions work, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team so you can subscribe to the notification list of affected users. You'll get email updates once there are developments about the investigation.
