Update Problem with Install

this is for QuickBooks Desktop 202o on Windows

I show a critical update from the last 2 weeks or so. No matter how many times I restart QB, it will not install and I get the reminder in the upper right corner to re-start. I have re-started many different ways without success of it installing the update. I have even done a "reset update" checkbox with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS: when I restart QB, it says installing update for less than 2 seconds and then goes to the QB logo. It does not appears as if any update takes place.

Thank you for the effort, but this is really just cut and paste for everything in this online community (basically I get this reply for 100% of things I post here).

I was able to resolve the issue using a few clues from:

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/update-won-t-install-on-quickbooks-pro-2020-desktop/00/971487

for me, the key was:

  1. Go to the Downloads & Updates page
  2. Select QuickBooks Pro as your edition and choose 2020 for the year (if you're prompted about the multi-user setup, select either Yes or Not sure).
  3. Click the Get the latest updates beside Already downloaded?.
  4. The qbwebpatch.exe installer will download. Simply run it afterwards and install the updates.

The patch would NOT install and said I had no updates, but after quitting the patcher and then re-running QB, it finally installed the updates (translation – it took several minutes at the startup screen and installed the hot fixes it had already download).

Hello there, Roberto.

I appreciate all the steps you’ve done to enable you to update your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2020.

Before installing the update on your QuickBooks, please make sure that your computer meets the requirements to avoid issues along the process: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2020 and Enterprise Solutions 20.0

Once done, utilize the Verify and Rebuild data utilities. Having said that, we can verify and correct the most typical data errors in your company file.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Window, then Close All.
  2. From the File menu, click Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild Data.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to back up your data.
  5. When the tool finishes, select OK.
  6. Go to the File menu, then click Utilities.
  7. Click Verify Data, then select Rebuild Now once QuickBooks finds an issue with your company file.

I’m adding this article for your reference: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop

If the issue persists, I’d recommend you get in touch with our Technical Support Team. This way, they can thoroughly check your account in a secure setting and provide fixes immediately.

Feel free to comment if you have more questions about updating your company file. I’m just a post away. Stay safe!
