Upgrade Destop Pro from 2018 to 2021

I need to upgrade QB desktop from 2018 to 2021.  My accountant still has the accountant copy for last year's taxes.  If I upgrade to 2021 now, will I still be able to import the accountant's copy from version 2018 when she sends it to me?

Good day, @Mike1141.

Let me answer this query for you.

Using the Accountant's Copy feature, the client and accountant should use the same version or year of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

For now, you can still work on the Accountant's Copy using a different version as long as the gap between the versions is just one year, and the accountant has a more recent version. Having said that, importing the accountant's copy from version 2018 is unavailable.

For more information, see the Accountant's copy overview.

Additionally, you can check out this article to know more about file compatibility in QBDT: Company file limitations when upgrading to another product.

Let me know if you need further assistance with this. I'm always around to provide answers and clarifications to your questions. Have a great day ahead and take care.

Thanks @ReymondO.  Sounds like I need to be a little more patient and hope that my accountant sends the changes before the end of May.  I don't know what version she is using, but I know that I need to upgrade if I want to continue to use the payment services.  The links you included are helpful.  Thanks again!

@Mike1141

You can upgrade to QBD 2021 with a one time license easily. But your accountant has to purchase QBD Accountant 2021 or 2022 later to support you.
