URGENT Invoice Moved from one Project to Another and everything deletes

Hello,

Two projects are under the same customer:

When and invoice is moved from one Project to Another - everything deletes off the invoice.

This invoice is unpaid but linked to an estimate in the customer account (that has both projects)

How do I move the invoice without deleting everything off the invoice?

I can help you address your concern regarding moving invoices between projects, AlexisR.

When an invoice is moved from one project to another in QuickBooks Online (QBO), it'll become unlinked from the original project it was associated with. It works as designed in the program and ensures that each transaction accurately reflects the project.

To fix this, we can move the estimate to the desired project and then open it again to unlink the invoice. It will detach the transaction from the estimate while keeping both records intact and accessible.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and select All Sales.
  2. Choose the estimate you want to run.
  3. From the Customer drop-down arrow, change the project.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Tap Yes to confirm.

After that, open the estimate and click the 1 linked invoice link under the Amount above, then click Invoice. In the invoice window, tap More to see the Delete option and Yes to confirm.

Once done, convert the estimate to invoice again.

Additionally, you might want to read this article for future reference: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts. It'll help you learn how to personalize the appearance of your sales form.
