Use QuickBooks in multi user

I have QuickBooks software on my laptop. The QuickBooks file is kept on the owners laptop and it is set to multi user.  I have added the product key and license number on the software I downloaded.  I want to access the file the owner has on their laptop.  Do I complete a backup of the owner file and restore on my laptop?  Mine is in multi user as well. By doing this will any adjustments or reconciliations I do be seen real time by the owner?  We would be on two different wifi networks.

Aren't you in the same LAN environment? Only have an internet connection?

The owner can set up a simple private cloud solution and you can access QB files via an internet connection in multiuser mode.

Once you have completed the updates, you can create a backup copy of your file and restore it to your owner's laptop. This will also allow them to make any required modifications to the file. By doing this, changes to the file are not made in real time.

 

To have real-time changes with different Wi-Fi networks, you can make use of cloud hosting through third-party applications. The Intuit Hosting Program enables you to operate your QuickBooks Desktop and save your data on a service provider's servers.
