Vendor Change of Address

Is there a way to change a vendor address without it changing the records of prior payments?  I have seen others ask the same question but the dates of those inquiries are several years ago, so I am unsure if Quickbooks has fixed this.  It is difficult to manage all the new addresses if I cannot enter them into Quickbooks, the result being checks get sent to addresses that are no longer valid.

Is creating another account for the same vendor with the updated address the only solution?  Does that pose any accounting problems that I should be aware of, such as year-end tasks?

I have QBs Premier Plus 2022 Desktop with enhanced payroll.

Thank you,

QB doesn't actually save the address on transactions when it's the same as the name's address.

So, the only way to do this is to edit all of the existing transactions one at a time and slightly change the address so it is different than the current vendor address. For example, you could add an extra space between the state and zip code. And then when saving the address answer no to update the name each time. Once complete, then when you change the address the existing transaction addresses won't change.

Note that to edit anything in a vendor's detailed page, WBO must be in accountant view. I suspect this is the case for customers, too, and other things. The online help apparently expects user to know this already.
