How do I void (not delete) a bill that has not been paid. All the instructions I've found do not apply. In Desktop, you could void easily.

Hi there, @snirp. I'm here to share some info about voiding a bill in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QBO, the option to void an unpaid bill is unavailable. You can only perform this action for certain transaction types and bill payments. For reference, feel free to check this article: Void or delete transactions in QuickBooks Online.

As a workaround, you can delete the bill by utilizing the More option. If in case there's a need to recreate the transaction, you can simply run the Audit Log report to recover the details.

I know how important it is to have this option in managing your books. We'd love to hear more of your insights about this and encourage you to send feedback to our product developers. Rest assured that they review all the submitted requests and consider adding them to future updates. Here's how:

  1. In your QBO account, select the Gear icon.
  2. Next, choose Feedback and enter your product comments.
  3. Then, select Next to submit.

Once done, visit our QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website to track your submitted feedback.

I'm always here ready to lend a hand if you have any other concerns about managing your bills in QBO. Don't hesitate to leave a reply below. Have a good day ahead.

RE: In QBO, the option to void an unpaid bill is unavailable.

Why did intuit take away that option and make it unavailable? That doesn't make sense.

Voiding is the normal / accepted way to handle, well, literally a voided transaction. Like a bill.

RE: You can only perform this action for certain transaction types and bill payments.

That's confusing. Isn't a bill payment a transaction type?

RE: I know how important it is to have this option in managing your books.

Oh, you do? Then why doesn't it exist in QuickBooks Online? QuickBooks Desktop has had this ability for decades.
