What does "CVS is requiring filing status" mean? I get this message when I try to change an employee's federal withholding even though I've selected a filing status.

I'm blocked from updating one employee's federal withholding because of this pop-up alert. I've made changes to others without any difficulty... but am unable to update just one and need to do so before I run this week's payroll. Please tell me how to proceed. I've requested to speak with a QB "specialist" for 2 days and have not received a call despite numerous requests.

Thank you for reporting the error you received, Joyu. I have news about it.

 

We've received reports from a few users experiencing the CVS is requiring filing status error when updating employee's W-4 information in QBO Payroll. That said, I suggest contacting our Payroll Support team. This way, they can add your account to the open ticket and collect additional data to gain a better understanding of the problem and work towards a resolution.

 

To contact QBOP support through QuickBooks:

 

  1. Go to Help (?).
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  4. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.
