Question

What does "You’re not set up to collect sales tax for this sale" mean? There is no sales tax in Oregon.

What does this mean?

I of course to not need to collect sales tax since there isn't any sales tax in Oregon...

"See the math" says:

I don't see any math, so that's a silly label. In any case...

Based on the location, the ship to location, 1) it doesn't matter if the customer is tax exempt because there is no tax in Oregon. 2) There should be no sales tax at all. Nothing to calculate, and nothing to complain about with messages stating that I'm not set up.

It seems more accurate to say that QuickBooks is not programmed properly because it should know that there is nothing to complain about and nothing to calculate.

Oh, and it gets better!

I sure hope no one is collecting sales tax "for this agency" because they don't want it:

I double checked to be sure: https://www.oregon.gov/dor/programs/businesses/pages/sales-tax.aspx

---------------------------------------------

About sales tax in Oregon

Oregon doesn't have a general sales or use/transaction tax. However, Oregon does have a vehicle use tax that applies to new vehicles purchased outside of the state. The tax must be paid before the vehicle can be titled and registered in Oregon.

So, I really don't think QuickBooks needs to ask me this question.

RE: The message you've seen is triggered by the system to notify users to address potential sales tax implications in various jurisdictions.

That's nice. But, there are no sales tax implications for Oregon. There is no sales tax for which to have an implication. Why is that hard for Intuit to understand?
