I can help you determine Intuit Data Protect's (IDP) most recent version, ormic.
You can check the latest version of IDP by checking on the Help menu and see whether there's an Update Now tab. If there isn't, it means you're using the latest version.
I have the same question since you didn't answer mine.
When I right click the green IDP icon in my taskbar and select "about IDP" I get a window that says I have version 1.70.21.5000 from 2022. The "Update" button is not grayed out; when I click on it I'm asked if I want to update, I click yes and nothing happens. Same thing occurs when I run IDP from within QB desktop.
1. What "Help" menu? On QB desktop?
2. I've been to your link. Doesn't address my issue.
3. What is the latest/current/suggested, etc., etc. version of IDP we users are supposed to have??????????????
I called QB yesterday and was told this is a known issue that should be solved by the end of the month.
I understand how important it is to back up your company file using Intuit Data Protect's (IDP) latest version. I appreciate you contacting our QuickBooks support team to investigate this issue. It has been confirmed that the update for 2024 will be released by the end of the month.
We can still update your IDP right now, and I'm here to assist you with the workaround. Make sure also to update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest version. You can also find the Help menu in the top bar menu on QuickBooks Desktop. We'll need to update IDP via the OCD folder.
Here's how:
Open Task Manager using Ctrl+Shift+Esc, and end the task on the following executable files. If you don't see the executable in the task manager, it has already stopped running.
Intuit Data Protect.exe
IBuengHost.exe
QBIDPService.exe
For QuickBooks Enterprise, navigate to C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions XX.0\Components\DataProtect\OCD.
Note that XX.0 refers to the QuickBooks version. For 2023, use the QuickBooks Enterprise or QuickBooks 23.0 folder; for 2022, use the QuickBooks Enterprise or QuickBooks 22.0 folder.
Right-click on IntuitDataProtect.exe and choose Properties.
Go to the Details tab and check for the File version of IntuitDataProtect.exe and compare it to your version. The latest version is 1.70.21.5003 (or any newer version than what we see on the About IDP page)
Note: If the IntuitDataProtect.exe is on a newer version, we can follow the steps below to update it via OCD. If it's on an older version compared to what we see on the About IDP page, we need to reinstall or manually clean install QuickBooks to force IntuitDataProtect.exe to the latest version. Then, we can continue with the steps to update IDP via OCD.
Copy all the contents stored in the OCD folder (Do not copy the OCD folder itself. Instead, open the OCD folder and copy all the files stored inside.)
Navigate to the IDP Folder and paste the contents of the OCD folder into the IDP folder.
If you're using 64 Bit, paste it here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\DataProtect.
For 32 Bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\DataProtect.
From the same IDP folder from the previous step, Copy Bueng32.dll and paste it to the Sym32 folder. Copy Bueng64.dll and paste it to the Sym64 folder.
