Question

When I try to upload my data to quickbooks onlines I get the following message; Unfortunately, we encountered an error uploading your data to QuickBooks Online.

So I am told I can get Intuit to take care of the migration at no cost, however when I get to the bottom of all of the hoops I had to jump through - it says that it works for accrual accounting. I use cash accounting so will this not work for me?  Trying to get an answer thru the person who sold it to me but as of yet - nothing.  I am not using payroll so that is not the issue.

I recognize you want to import data within QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I'm here to help you how to set up your company on a cash basis.

 

QuickBooks reverses all receivable and payable transactions when you switch from accrual to cash in the Profit and Loss report. You should get your cash basis net income if you take your accrual net income and subtract the current year's receivables and payables while adding back the prior year's collectibles and payables.

 

The financial statements will almost certainly change once you make the switch. Since some transactions are handled differently under each accounting basis, not all transactions are converted equally under each method.

 

Let's go over altering the accounting method by heading to the Gear icon.

 

Follow the steps below:

 

  1. Select Settings ⚙, then select Account and settings.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab.
  3. In the Accounting section, select the Edit ✎ icon.
  4. Choose the Accounting method.
  5. Select Save, then Done.

 

Once done, get ready to migrate your data to QuickBooks Online.

Open the company file and hit f2 key. How big are your Total Targets?

I am having the same issue trying to migrate from QBD Prof Services to QBO Advanced.  I have reduced the number of targets to 19,000 from 52,000 and I am still getting an error.

Please know that I recognize the urgency of this matter, and I want to ensure you can successfully migrate your data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO). 

 

Before anything else, may I ask where you're getting the error? Did you receive it when setting up your data for migration inside QBDT or when migrating the data to QBO?

If it's on the QBDT side, I'd recommend performing the Verify and Rebuild option inside the program. Doing this lets you determine the root cause of why you're unable to finish the migration of data and then how to fix it. I'll write down the steps below to get you going:

 

 

  1. Go to Window then select Close All.
  2. Go to File, then select Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data. If you see:
  • QuickBooks detected no problems with your data—your data is clean, and you don’t need to do anything else.
  • An error message—search for it on our QuickBooks Desktop support site for how to fix it.
  • Your data has lost integrity—Data damage was found in the file. Rebuild your data to fix it.

Thank you for your quick response.  The only way I was able to get the QBD transferred to QBO was to upload the QB Desktop file to the cloud and then import it.  It has finally successfully imported.
